Victorian Coalition promises Clare's Law within 100 days if elected. Good idea? SA's scheme has had 4,000+ applications since 2018. But a disclosure scheme is one tool in a box that's mostly empty. Labor's own record on coercive control legislation has been years of deferrals and half-steps. East Gippsland has the highest family violence rate in the state, 4,655 incidents per 100,000 people. Both parties treat this as a political football while prevention funding stays flat. A disclosure database costs almost nothing. The real money is in crisis housing, mental health, and early intervention. Neither party will talk about that. #auspol #vicpol

Two-thirds of Victorian teachers still have no formal training to deliver sex ed. One in four has no training on handling disclosures of sexual violence. Kids are learning about sex from social media, porn, and algorithms because schools are too scared of one angry parent to deliver the mandated curriculum.
The state's Respectful Relationships program costs $129M but reaches patchily. Teachers say: give us the resources and time, and we'll do it. But there's no national framework, no compliance check, and no accountability when a school quietly drops the class.
Evidence-based, age-appropriate sex ed isn't optional. It's a floor, the basic knowledge every kid deserves to navigate relationships, consent, and safety. The state should mandate training, fund it properly, and actually check that schools are delivering it. One vocal parent should not be able to cancel a child's right to accurate, life-saving information.

It should be dismissed but not until Comey is tormented enough for throwing the election to Trump.

If you need a reason to be hopeful, here's one.
On a given day when I go vote in an intra-year election, there are maybe 400-500 votes tallied at the time I go. Today there were over 800.
And if more people in KC vote, it's more likely that we can defeat the shitty state amendments on the ballot.

Men, coming in like the kool-aid man: "BUT WHY AREN'T YOU TALKING ABOUT MEN'S ISSUES?!?!?"
Because I'm not a man?
Go talk about your own issues. I encourage it! Why is your primary advocacy here trying to get _women_ to talk about _your_ issues and whining about your lack of visibility and inclusion _among women_?

I hope to read it sometime @matthew - are you going to try to get it published somewhere? (nice that you use good paper to print your work). I too find it hard to think very pro-AI thoughts... last week was a shock, though not a surprise. Too many crossovers with climate change denials.

The politics of abortion have changed in the wake of Dobbs in three major ways. "...public opinion has shifted more in a more progressive direction. Democrats, women, and young people used to say they would feel more comfortable with some restrictions on #abortion access, and now they support abortion for any reason.
Second, there’s been a shift in prioritization. For decades, it was those who are pro-life and Republican who prioritized the issue of abortion higher than those who are pro-choice. That has totally reversed in the wake of Dobbs, and now it is# Democrats and people who identify as #ProChoice who are much more likely to say that this is a top issue motivating them to go out to vote." https://prospect.org/2026/07/25/a-stunning-shift-in-public-opinion-post-dobbs/
